Work Continues on El Camino Real between Willow & Oak Grove Aves.
Construction Activities
Ranger Pipelines, Inc. will begin the next segment of pipeline replacement for the Crystal Springs Pipeline No. 2 (CSPL2) along El Camino Real.
To prepare for pipeline installation, excavation of the road and installation of the water pipeline will begin in late November and continue through the end of December.
In order for the contractor to access the pipeline, the contractor is expected to open segments of the road and build "access pits" so that the contractor can get to the pipeline.
This work will occur at:
Work Area #2: El Camino Real between Willow &
Oak Grove Aves.
What to Expect? For residents who live along El Camino Real, the contractor will maintain driveway access to all residences and businesses, however there may be temporary access delays during work hours. Traffic control measures will be in place to accommodate traffic along El Camino Real and those who live near the work areas. The contractor will also abide by the local noise ordinance.
To limit congestion along El Camino Real, the "sliplining" technique will be performed. "Sliplining" requires two access pits at each end of the proposed replacement area. The pits and the surrounding work areas are approximately 300 feet long and may require 1-2 lane closures on El Camino Real. Once in place, these access pits can remain for 3-6 months, depending on the weather and installation conditions.
Work Hours:Monday to Friday* 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
*The contractor will not work over regularly observed holidays.

Street Restoration Continues in South San Francisco
Over the last few weeks, Ranger Pipelines has been completing the remaining preparatory work required for street surface restoration. This work has included placement of new manhole covers, small valves and other pipeline appurtenances. These last details must be complete before street surface grinding and then new asphalt are laid down.
Beginning on Monday, Nov. 7, the following streets can expect to see mobilization of equipment and restoration work:
• Palm Avenue
• Elm Court
• Park Way
• Randolph Avenue
Beginning on Monday, Nov. 21, Spruce Avenue street restoration efforts will begin.
Construction hours are:
Monday to Friday: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Parking & Driveway Access
Street restoration work may result in temporary parking inconveniences. Please watch for posted no parking signs.
The contractor must provide residents access to driveways, but please expect temporary delays. Road restoration work is estimated to last 2 to 3 days in each area.
Thank You!
We would like to thank the South San Francisco community for their patience during construction.
CSPL2 was installed in the mid-1930s (picture above). This is the first time the SFPUC has performed work to this magnitude on our regional drinking water pipes. This work will upgrade the region's water delivery system to ensure water remains available following a major earthquake. These replacement efforts are intended to last a lifetime (80+ years).
