Tree Removal & Water Pipeline Work This Spring in Daly City

Upcoming Construction Activities
Water pipeline construction is scheduled for the Main Street area in Daly City this spring. This work will take place along Main Street adjacent to the PG&E Martin Service Station. Construction in this neighborhood is expected to continue through the summer.

What To Expect?
The CSPL2 work area extends past Main Street through the SFPUC Right Of Way (ROW), adjacent to the San Mateo County Housing Authority offices. Some water pipeline work will occur within the PG&E yard. Residents may notice more truck traffic and vehicles parked on the nearby street.

The contractor is expected to maintain the work area, including ensuring dust, noise and traffic delays are kept to a minimum. The contractor will also have environmentalists and inspectors monitoring the area.

Work Hours:
Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Notice of Tree Removal
"Potholing" activities last week helped the contractor confirm the exact location of the SFPUC water pipeline and to identify the location of other utilities along Main Street. This work also confirmed a tree within the construction area. This tree must be removed to allow for the removal of the existing pipeline and installation of the new pipe. Additionally, trimming of nearby trees and shrubs may also be required.

What To Expect?
To prepare for pipeline installation, crews will begin “potholing” work to verify the location of underground utilities over the next few weeks. This will include some limited excavation to relocate utilities such as cable and telephone lines. Lane closures are anticipated, but driveway access will be maintained.

Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Environmentalists will also begin surveying throughout the day and evening. Survey work sometimes takes place at night, as environmentalists are surveying bats which are most active at night.

El Camino Real Work Continues Between La Cruz & Victoria Aves. in Millbrae

Starting January 17th, Ranger Pipelines, Inc. will begin the next segment of pipeline replacement for the Crystal Springs Pipeline No. 2 (CSPL2) along El Camino Real. To access the pipeline, the contractor will open segments of the road and build “access pits” to the pipe.

This work will occur along El Camino Real between La Cruz & Victoria Aves.

For neighbors and businesses along El Camino Real, the contractor will maintain driveway access to all residences and businesses, however there may be temporary access delays during work hours. Traffic control measures will be in place to accommodate traffic along El Camino Real and those who live near the work areas. The contractor will abide by the local noise ordinance. Work will take place Monday through Friday, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 2 p.m.

To limit congestion along El Camino Real, the contractor will use the “sliplining” technique. “Sliplining” allows a new, slightly smaller pipe segment to be threaded through the existing pipeline between two access pits. The pits and the surrounding work areas are approximately 300 feet long and may require 1-2 lane closures on El Camino Real. Once in place, these access pits will remain for 3-6 months, depending on the weather and installation conditions.

Work Hours:
Monday to Friday               7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
